You're welcome and I was reading your old comment to someone on December and I have to say, you're probably the few people on DA that do things that they love and not for popularity. I'm doing the same thing, and like seeing how much my art grew.

haha thanks! Yeah, I guess I can understand his accusation about just drawing for popularity - but it's kind of silly XD Spending that much time drawing and posting and such just for popularity haha too much effort! xD

I'm glad that other people are still drawing solely for the love of drawing, though C: DA is such a great place for posting and seeing improvement over time!

Exactly. I do things slowly and watch as I see my art getting better. I don't want to just do things like a robot and post them for people's needs.

Yes it is ^^

I know my anatomy isn't perfect at all, but all I can do is work on it (: If you have any constructive criticism, please let me know!

Also, the random accessories are from when I created the character when I was 14. It does look really silly, but when I did the meme I wanted to try and recreate the picture exactly as it was (:

basic construction, drawing with form and using perspective. Get the basics done before you go into various styles like manga (most manga is just a mixture of overused flat symbols anyway). You aren't doing any better at the moment. A V-shaped head, the nose is just one line and hair is flying randomly all over the place. (cloth folds are kinda nice though). First step is usually drawing from life and studying some books like Andrew Loomis. Watching some tuts like vilppu on youtube is also a great start-up. Most important: it's not about the lines, it's about the form they express.

Everyone can draw but often they suffer from perfectionism. Then they start drawing popular stuff like "yeah i will be famous one day" and they fail because all they do is copying other artists stuff, attention-whoring, claiming it's a OC. Probably never filled a sketchbook because everytime they draw for 1 hour it has to be something worth posting. Drawing isn't something a step by step instruction can teach you within a day.

sorry for grammar, taking things to seriously and i hope i didn't make you late.

Thank you for your detailed comment, but that's assuming that I don't do these things (:

I don't strive for popularity, I draw because I love doing it and I enjoy drawing and I don't think I could live without doing it. I do, in fact, practice realism but I don't post many of those attempts online. Some of them are on my tumblr, but I favor anime style for my finished drawings so most of my finished drawings are anime or semi-realistic. I also do have sketch-books which I study real life in. I am constantly drawing and I've filled up over 15 sketchbooks (many traditional drawings are on my tumblr such as [link]}, so it's a bit harsh to assume that just because the pictures I post on deviantart are anime, that I don't draw other styles at all. I simply don't feel comfortable in my realistic attempts as I've only started practicing realistic anatomy and really trying to study art this year. As this picture was done earlier in the year, I was only loosely studying anatomy but as the year progressed I've moved on. I do study perspective ([link] [link] [link] [link] [link] are finished examples where I used human references. In fact, I think even this picture her hand shows a bit of perspective) and I do study realistic anatomy ([link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link]) Yes, most of them are terrible, but isn't that what art is about? Learning from your mistakes and terrible attempts?

I understand that I have a long, long way to go. But seeing as I've only been drawing seriously since I was 14, I don't think my progress is all that bad. Like I said before, I don't strive for popularity, and what fans I have gained I do appreciate but my goal is not to be famous one day. I simply post these drawings because I want to share my love for art with other people and see the progress that I make over time. If that leads to more, and I end up with a career then that is fantastic and more than I could ever hope for. My goal is to continue doing what I love throughout my life and making enough money to live off of it would be wonderful. I don't need "fame and fortune". I just want to bring happiness to other people with my art, as it makes me immensely happy to draw it- as cliche and cheesy as that sounds.

In regards to your earlier comment about taking 3 years, I honestly do see improvement in the anatomy. Obviously the proportions have a very long way to go, but the head is much smaller and the features have become less anime-like. You can see the eyes become smaller, more detail to the nose as I started incorporating realism into my art. You can also see more shape in the forearms, they aren't as skinny and the elbow has more shape to it. I'm not afraid to draw hands anymore, even if they aren't the greatest, I'm not hiding them behind her back. The nose is no longer a single line and she has nostrils, and the v-shaped head has gone a long way (my style since then has become more of a rounded face), considering how pointed the chin was when I started. Yes, the hair is "flying randomly all over the place" but it was my attempt at adding more detail and definition to it, as opposed to this 2009 one where her hair was simply blocks.

Like I said, it's not perfect and I have a very long way to go. But, I think that messing up and learning from mistakes is the only way to learn. I would rather post my art, imperfections and all, and grow from it over time. I didn't do this meme to get favorites and popularity, I drew it because I was happy with my growth from that 14 year old girl to the 17 year old. If I only got 2 favorites on my work, as I did when I first started, then that would be fine with me and I would continue posting and drawing in my sketch books. I yearn to grow as an artist and continue doing what I love, and if other people join me for the long ride then that is wonderful. If not, oh well, at least I'm happy with my art.

Your critiques are very helpful and sincere, but I think it's a bit silly that you have to make a new account to comment with harsh words at first. Critiques like these can help many artists, but the hate cannot.

Sorry, but I have to disagree ^^ In the first two I think her head was quite large and didn't fit her body, in the newest one I simply made her body proportionate to her head. Either way, even if she did get curvier, I don't see how that's a bad thing anyways :)
